Call for Submissions: Love Your Rebellion, Spring 2012, Issue #2

Love Your Rebellion, a (print) zine for everyday rebels, is looking for feminist visual art, writing, and music reviews.

Works submitted don’t have to be authored by women, but they must be feminist.

Submissions will be accepted for the Spring 2012 issue from 12/15/2011 -- 3/15/2012


You may submit:
·         Poetry – 3 pages
·         Short Story – 1000 words, max
·         Flash Fiction – 250 words, max
·         Memior – 1000 words, max
·         Feminist Theory or Criticism – 1000 words, max
·         Music Reviews – 500 words, max
·         Graphic Art:
o   Comic – No more than 3 cells
o   Collage -- Single page
o   Photography – 3 photos, max

Guidelines for Email Submissions

Print:
·         Please write in the body of the email: name, address, phone number, e-mail address, title of piece, and 50-word maximum third-person bio.
·         Text: Times New Roman, 12-point font, standard one-inch margins, attach to email.
·         Title: Place on page that text begins. No page numbers and no name anywhere on the text.
·         Attach .doc or .docx only.
·         Prose: 1.5 space.
·         Poetry: single spaced.
·         Feminist cricism/theory must site sources if sources are used.
·         Sources must be sited in MLA format.

Graphic Art:
·         Please write in the body of the email: name, address, phone number, e-mail address, title of piece, and 50-word maximum third-person bio.
·         The attached image must be a minimum of 300 dpi. Scan image if needed, but please, 300dpi minimum.
·         All graphic art must be submitted in .JPEG extension only.

Please put your first and last name followed by your work's genre in the subject line.

**You may submit to more than one genre.
**Only one submission per genre, please.
**Please send a separate email per submission.
**Not every genre will be featured in every issue, but we will be sure to let you know if your work has been chosen for a later issue.
**Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please let us know if you have been accepted elsewhere.
**At this time we are not offering financial compensation, but published authors will receive a discounted price on purchasing the zine.
**We accept submissions from all over the world, but text must be written in English.
**Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for a response. 
**Anything received after the submission deadline will not be considered for publication. 
**Anything that does not follow the submission guidelines will not be considered for publication.

Love Your Rebellion: A Zine for Everyday Rebels is a bi-annual publication that seeks to empower women, girls, and feminists the world over. Love Your Rebellion publishes interviews, creative writing, feminist criticism and theory, and graphic art all about self-acceptance, self-love, and self-empowerment from a diverse body of voices. Love Your Rebellion will be made available for purchase in three ways: a downloadable PDF, an Ipad App, and a print zine. Along with purchasing the zine, the buyer will receive an item of their choosing--including a canvas tote bag, a button, a shirt, a sticker, and a wallet--based on their contribution to Love Your Rebellion. Of course, all buyers will receive free fliers to spread the rebellion.

Your Kickstarter contribution will go to ink, paper, a used industrial copier, the Apple App Developer's fee, internet marketing (Google, SEO), and materials to make merchandise (logo stencils, canvas, recycled materials, a button press, etc.). These funds will ensure continued revenue and success for Love Your Rebellion.

The Submission Period is Now Closed for the Fall 2011 Issue!

The submission period for the inaugural issue of Love Your Rebellion: A Feminist Zine for Everyday Rebels is now closed! But do not fret! Submissions will reopen at the end of 2011 for the Spring 2012 issue. Stay in touch with us to find out exactly when that will be!

Those of you who sent in work should be receiving notice in the next couple weeks about whether you have been selected for publication for the Fall 2011 issue. Please keep writing, whatever the outcome of your submission! A riot grrrl never gives up!

The Fall 2011 issue is set for an November 1st release.
